What you can expect

Explore the museum's galleries on two independent circuits, organised geographically and in chronological order. Discover the first loop which encompasses the Eastern and Classical Art on display in the Egyptian, Greco-Roman, Mesopotamian, Eastern Islamic, Armenian, and Far Eastern galleries.

Take the second circuit to delve into European Art from the beginning of the 11th century to the mid-20th century, with sections devoted to the Art of the Book, Sculpture, Painting, Decorative Arts, and the work of René Lalique, Calouste Gulbenkian close friend.

Begin the European Art circuit with works in ivory and illuminated manuscripts, followed by a selection of 15th, 16th and 17th-century sculptures and paintings. Explore the French 18th-century decorative arts collection with its outstanding gold and silver objects and furniture, as well as paintings and sculptures. Continue your journey through art history with a group of paintings by the Venetian painter Francesco Guardi, 18th and 19th-century English paintings.

End your route through the museum by viewing the superb collection of jewels and glass by René Lalique, displayed in its own room.
