What you can expect

Learn how pioneering pilots, only 11 years after the Wright brothers first flew, discovered the potential and power of war in the air. Find out how the use of aircraft evolved from reconnaissance, taking pot shots at the enemy with oranges and revolvers, into effective war machines in the space of only four years, culminating in the creation of the Royal Air Force as the first dedicated Air Force in the world.

This tour provides a unique opportunity to step behind the barriers and encounter the RAF Museum's oldest collections like never before.

Arrive at least 30 minutes before your tour begins. Present the booking confirmation at Hangar 1 admissions. After check-in, proceed to Hangar 2 where the tour guide will meet you.
