Luoyang, an ancient capital of thirteen dynasties steeped in glory, boasts a longer and more profound historical heritage than Xi’an, where time has precipitated countless legends over the millennia.
Your night tour will kick off comfortably from the Luoyang hotel where you’re staying. Your private tour guide will be waiting for you in the hotel lobby in advance, so you don’t have to worry about route planning at all. Just follow your guide’s footsteps to immerse yourself in the nocturnal beauty of Luoyang.
The first stop of the itinerary will be an authentic local restaurant. Here, you can savour the rich and mellow flavours of Luoyang Water Banquet dishes, letting your taste buds be the first to embrace the down-to-earth charm of Luoyang.
After a hearty meal, the highlight of the night tour officially begins. We’ll first head to Heaven and Mingtang Palace. As dusk falls and the lights come on, this imperial palace complex dating back to Empress Wu Zetian’s reign sheds its daytime solemnity, its grand outline etched by glittering lights. The upturned eaves of the halls sparkle in the night, and wandering through the palace grounds makes you feel as if you’ve travelled back to the prosperous era of the Tang Dynasty.
Next, we’ll proceed to Yingtian Gate for some exterior photos. Hailed as “the No.1 Gate of the Sui and Tang Dynasties”, this magnificent structure exudes imperial grandeur in the dark. Its vermilion palace walls paired with warm yellow light strips make every snapshot perfect for your social media feed—feel free to capture the wonderful moments of your journey here.
The night tour draws to a close at Lijing Gate Ancient Street. The bluestone-paved path winds forward, flanked by rows of bustling shops. The air is filled with the enticing aromas of Luoyang’s speciality snacks: freshly baked peony pastries wafting with sweet scents, piping-hot donkey meat sandwiches with a chewy texture, and a variety of intangible cultural heritage handicrafts and cultural and creative souvenirs filling the stalls. The lively cries of vendors blend with the laughter of tourists, embodying the heartwarming street life of this ancient city.
The tour ends in Luoyang’s old city.
