Our lord in the Attic is a unique clandestine Catholic church built on top of a 17th century merchant house. This was a secret Christian church in Protestant times. the church has kept the furnishings from its origins, including typical dutch wooden furniture, table clocks, and two kitchens with delft blue tiles. The church was built by Jan Hartmann in the attic of his house and today attracts more than 80,000 visitors a year.

This canal is the oldest steam gate in Amsterdam. The Kolksluice has been in operation since the Middle Ages. In 1702 the castle of the Kolksluice was demolished and replaced with the current bridge.
