If you're in Madrid and want to discover one of the most charming villages in Castilla-La Mancha, this excursion is for you! We will meet at the indicated time at our departure point for our adventure to Consuegra, famous for being the home of the iconic windmills that inspired Cervantes so much.
We will travel in comfort by minibus to this picturesque town in the province of Toledo. Community of Castilla-La Mancha. Upon arrival, we'll make a short stop at the Plaza de España in Consuegra, where you'll have free time to have breakfast or enjoy the local atmosphere and hear about the medieval history of Consuegra.
Next, we will begin the guided visit of Cerro Calderico, the location of the well-known windmills of Consuegra. Here, you can admire these gigantic structures and learn the storey behind them. Did you know that Don Quixote mistook them for giants in his famous adventure? During the tour, you'll also discover how these landscapes of La Mancha inspired Miguel de Cervantes to create his most famous work.
After exploring the hill, we'll visit the interior of the Rucio Mill, one of the most representative mills in the area. Through this experience, you'll learn how they worked in the past and their historical significance in the region.
The next stop on our excursion will be the “Castillo de la Muela”, an impressive medieval fortress perched on a hilltop. The Castle has a fascinating history, having been a key bastion during the Reconquista thanks to its strategic location. You will have a guided visit inside the castle, where you will tour its rooms and walls and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area.
After the visit to the castle, we will head back to Madrid, where we will arrive at the meeting point, bringing to a close a 7-hour excursion full of history, culture, and unforgettable landscapes.
