The tour begins at the remains of the Roman theatre, which was once considered the largest stage theatre north of the Alps. The tour then continues to the monumental tomb of Drusus, the stepson of Emperor Augustus. The tour concludes at the late-antique Römertor (Roman Gate) on the Kästrich, an impressive remnant of the city's Roman fortifications.
During the tour, you will learn in vivid detail about the role Mainz played as the capital of the province of Upper Germany and about the profound influence the Romans had on the city's development.
