What you can expect

Learn about the life and times of the drug lord Pablo Escobar on a guided tour of Medellin and discover how the city has changed since his death in 1993.

Loved and feared by millions, Pablo Escobar’s storey is intimately linked to the recent history of Colombia’s second largest city. The notorious drug lord and killer was once listed in “Forbes” magazine as the seventh richest man in the world. He was elected to the House of Representatives, and once offered to pay Colombia's national debt of 26 billion dollars in exchange for immunity from prosecution. He built his own lavish home to serve as his jail cell and put out bounties on Colombian policemen.

Travel back to the time of Pablo Escobar's reign over the city, and learn about his extensive cocaine operation. Visit three historical sites with Escobar associations, including the Monaco Building (Edificio Monaco) where he lived and survived a bomb attack by the rival Cali cartel that was designed to kill him.

See the house where he was shot dead in a hail of bullets in December 1993, and his grave next to the “Black Widow” drug lord, Griselda Blanco. Learn what life was like during the terrible years when the drug barons ruled and how Medellin has survived to become one of the most innovative and resilient cities on earth.
