Venture off the beaten track and see fruit plantations, palm tree-fringed oases, and the sand dunes of the “small Sahara.” Meet local Berbers, learn about their ancient culture, and explore the diverse landscapes of the Massa Nature Reserve.

Driving through the town of Ait Melloul, stop for a traditional nuss nuss (half milk, half coffee) before arriving at a banana plantation, and then stroll through the lush vegetation and admire the serenity. Continue through several Berber villages and let the local children briefly tag along with you.

As you reach the pre-Saharan dunes, you meet an eccentric scorpion charmer. Gather round and watch him flip over his pot, see live scorpions emerge, and witness the famous yellow scorpion dance. Then head to Youssef Bin Tachfine dam to admire panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes and calm waters—a great photo opportunity. Visit a friendly local who lives in a tent nearby, and sample some freshly brewed mint tea.

Hold on tight as you ride along the bumpy sand dunes towards Tiznit, the former silver capital of the South. See the ancient ramparts and enjoy some free time wandering the old medina—and perhaps buy some Berber silver jewellery as a souvenir.

Lunch is at a local restaurant serving Moroccan salads, savoury tagines, and fresh bread. Fresh fruit is also served, along with mint tea. Your tour is then complete with a rocky drive through Souss Massa National Park before returning to Agadir.
