Tibet: A 9-Day Boutique Journey to the Roof of the World
Explore ancient traditions and stunning landscapes on this 9-day tour through the heart of Tibet. From Lhasa's vibrant streets to the majestic peak of Mount Everest, this journey is ideal for nature lovers and cultural enthusiasts.
Day 1: Arrival in Lhasa
Your journey begins in Lhasa, Tibet's capital, known as the “Sunlight City.” Upon arrival, our staff will welcome you with a traditional Hada scarf and escort you to your hotel to acclimatise to the high-altitude environment.
Day 2: Potala Palace & Jokhang Temple
After breakfast, visit the Potala Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and former home of the Dalai Lama. Next, head to the Jokhang Temple, the most sacred site in Tibetan Buddhism. Your day ends with a stroll through Barkhor Street, Lhasa's bustling heart.
Day 3: Yamdrok Lake, Karola Glacier, & Jiangzi Castle
Depart for Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet's three sacred lakes. Continue to the Karola Glacier, one of the largest glaciers in Tibet, and end the day at Jiangzi Castle, a historic fortress with panoramic views.
Day 4: Gawula Pass, Rongbuk Monastery, & Everest Base Camp
Drive to Gawula Pass for an iconic view of four 8000-meter peaks, including Mount Everest. Head to Rongbuk Monastery, the world's highest monastery, and finally, arrive at Everest Base Camp.
Day 5: Everest Base Camp (Sunrise), Sakya Monastery, & Shigatse
Wake up early for the breathtaking sunrise over Everest. Afterwards, head to Sakya Monastery, a historic site with rich cultural heritage. Enjoy lunch in Sakya County before travelling to Shigatse.
Day 6: Tashilhunpo Monastery, Gyirong Kangri, & Serling Tsö
Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, seat of the Panchen Lama. Continue to Gyirong Kangri for views of the snow-capped mountains. Stop for lunch and enjoy the scenic drive to Serling Tsö, Tibet's largest lake.
Day 7: Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains, Namtso, & Return to Lhasa
Drive to Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains for stunning views of the snow-capped peaks. Continue to Namtso, the “Heavenly Lake,” and return to Lhasa via Nagenla Mountain Pass.
Day 8: Tibetan Home Visits & Highland Theatre
Participate in a traditional Tibetan family visit, try making tsamba, and enjoy a home-cooked lunch. In the afternoon, visit Tibet Runjin Theatre for a performance featuring Tibetan song and dance.
Day 9: Farewell and Departure
After breakfast, transfer to Lhasa Gonggar Airport or Railway Station for your departure.
