What you can expect
Sleep at the Top of Japan
Imagine waking up at the summit of Mt. Fuji, stepping outside, and watching the sunrise paint the sky in shades of gold and crimson. This 2-day guided tour makes that dream a reality with an overnight stay at Fujikan Top of Mt. Fuji Lodge – Japan's highest accommodation at 3,740m elevation.
Day 1: Tokyo to the Summit
Depart Shinjuku at 7:30 AM aboard a comfortable charter bus. You'll arrive at Fujinomiya 5th Station (2,400m) around 11:00 AM. After preparation, your climb begins around 11:30 AM.
The Fujinomiya Route offers beautiful views as you ascend. On clear days, you can see Suruga Bay sparkling in the distance and the Izu Peninsula stretching towards the horizon. Your professional guide maintains a steady, comfortable pace, with a maximum of 15 climbers per guide ensuring personal attention and safety support.
As you climb higher, the landscape transforms into stark volcanic terrain – a reminder that you're walking up one of the world's most iconic mountains. Around 6:45 PM, you'll arrive at your destination: Fujikan Top of Mt. Fuji Lodge.
Take a moment to appreciate where you are. At 3,740m, this is the highest place you can sleep anywhere in Japan. The lodge offers warm hospitality with a hot dinner, indoor facilities, and a shop where you can find souvenirs available only at the summit. Enjoy your evening meal and get a good night's rest – tomorrow brings the moment you've been waiting for.
Day 2: Sunrise and Japan's Highest Point
The beauty of staying at the summit is simplicity. While others climb through the night, you can rest comfortably until around 4:00 AM. Step outside to witness the legendary “Goraiko” – the sunrise breaking over the sea of clouds. It's one of Japan's most spiritual experiences, viewed from the highest possible vantage point on the mountain.
After enjoying the sunrise, have breakfast at the lodge and prepare for departure. Then your guide leads you to Kengamine (3,776m), the true highest point in Japan – just a 30-minute walk away. Standing at the very top of Japan as morning light warms your face is an unforgettable moment of achievement.
From Kengamine, begin your descent via the well-maintained trail. You'll arrive back at the 5th Station around 11:00 AM.
Complete your journey with a visit to a local hot spring facility. Soak tired muscles in natural mineral waters and celebrate your accomplishment with food and drinks if you wish (fees separate). The bus returns you to Shinjuku around 5:00 PM.
Gear Rental Available
No need to bring heavy climbing gear from home. Full equipment rental is available through our partner Yamarent at special rates for tour participants – including hiking boots, rain jacket & pants, backpack, trekking poles, headlamp, and fleece. Details will be provided after booking.
