Overview

You will experience waterfall training in a sacred mountain called Mt. Inunaki which is located 1 hour drive from Kansai Airport. In this tour, you hike up the mountain to the Sipporyuji-temple with our guide through premival forest which has been a training basement for Yamabushi, Buddist monk. After arriving at the temple, you change your clothes to white ascetic wear and get into waterfall as the practitioner. This is an amazing experience that you never feel in your daily life. When you go back to Fudouguchi-Kan, Onsen Ryokan at the entrance of Mt. Inunaki, you can also enjoy soaking in the Inunaki hot springs to relax. Mt. Inunaki

Mt. Inunaki is regarded as one of the oldest sacred mountains in Japan. According to recent historical research and advances in the academic study of Shugen-do, Mt. Inunaki is now considered the birthplace of Shugen-do. We hike up this mountain and waterfall practice. It takes about 35 minutes from Izumisano station to Mt. Inunaki by bus.

We will do waterfall training instracted by Shugendo practitioner, Mountain Asceticism known as “Shugen-do.” Shugen-do practitioner walk around the mountain, visiting training sites and places of worship in Mt. Inunaki but you can only join takigyo meditation, or waterfall training. Mt. Inunaki is open to women, earning it the nickname “Nyonin Omine” (Women’s Omine), as only men are permitted to enter Mt. Omine’s training grounds.

You can experience swimming in Inunaki Hot spring onsen. Choose between two types of hot spring pools.
