What you can expect

  • Join the Night Watchman, equipped with a halberd, signaling horn, and lantern, on a fascinating guided tour through medieval Munich. Experience the duties of a night watchman and discover Munich’s Old Town along the route of the city’s first wall, built in the 12th century, where we will close four historic city gates.
At St. Peter’s Church, you will hear the storey of the former cemetery and learn why people in the past wished to be buried as close to the altar as possible. At the old moat, we explore the founding of Munich and the meaning of the city’s coat of arms. At the Old Town Hall, you will gain insight into medieval justice, prisons, and the harsh methods of punishment that were once common.
At the site of Munich’s first castle, you will learn more about the Bavarian rulers who chose Munich as their residence city. At the Frauenkirche, the city’s largest church, we will admire the remarkable achievement of completing this monumental building in just 20 years during the 15th century.
Look forward to numerous true stories, fascinating historical insights, and the origins of well-known sayings.
All of this is presented with a unique blend of theatrical performance, entertainment, and humour.
