What you can expect
See African wildlife in Nairobi on a small-group tour to the Giraffe Centre and Elephant Orphanage. Learn how these sites increase education and aid conservation of Africa's wildlife. You also tour the Karen Blixen Museum and visit a bead factory.
Start the day by getting up close and personal with Rothschild giraffes, Africa's tallest mammal at the Giraffe Centre. Here you can ascend to an observation platform to meet giraffes at their eye level.
Continue your Nairobi day trip with a visit to the world-famous David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage. Here you'll meet a herd of adorable baby elephants and learn about the work done to rescue them from poachers. Tour the orphanage, hear interesting talks about their work and watch the elephants play.
Another stop on your small-group tour will be at a bead factory which makes some of the world most beautiful beads. Significant in many East African cultures, beads are used for decoration, ceremonies and as symbols of status. The factory also provides employment to hundreds of local women.
There will be a short break and your guide will give recommendations on where you can grab a quick bite to eat.
You'll then drive you to the former home of Karen Blixen, famous author of “Out of Africa” and one of the best-known colonialists in east Africa. Step back in history as you explore the museum and learn her fascinating storey.
At the end of the day with newly acquired knowledge of Kenya and a great collection of photos, you'll be return to your Nairobi hotel.
