A quiet walk through Nara Park and Todai-ji after the visitors have gone, lit only by the lantern you carry.
The night view from Nigatsu-do, and the presence of deer settled down for the night - the Nara that daytime never shows you.
Your guide takes the photographs along the way, so you can keep your attention on the light and the view.
We meet just outside Kintetsu Nara Station, in front of the statue of the monk Gyoki, and set off into the night.
Walking against the flow of people heading for the station, we follow the light of the lantern into Nara Park and on towards Todai-ji, where the crowds thin and the place begins to show a different face.
From the quiet corridors of Nigatsu-do you look out over the lights of Nara, and for a while the rush of travelling falls away.
At the foot of Wakakusa-yama we walk softly so as not to wake the deer settled for the night, and you feel the sense of a town where people and deer have lived side by side.
Your guide photographs the walk, and at the end we see you back to a convenient point for your onward journey.
Please note: about 3 km on foot, and you will be walking for most of the tour. Nara Park includes stone steps and slopes. The tour runs in light rain.
A small group, and a guide who grew up in Nara.
