What you can expect

Departing from Tokyo’s sophisticated Ginza district, this full-day journey offers an escape into the peaceful landscapes and timeless spirituality of Nikko. As the cityscape fades into mountain roads and forested hills, travellers are transported into a different side of Japan—one rich in tradition, nature, and serenity.

The first scenic highlight is a sweeping view of the iconic Shinkyo Bridge, a sacred structure gracefully arching over the Daiya River. Framed by greenery and steeped in legend, the bridge serves as a symbolic gateway to the sacred precincts of Nikko.

The adventure continues with a visit to the magnificent Toshogu Shrine, an architectural marvel dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, founder of the Edo shogunate. Lavishly adorned with carvings, vivid colours, and intricate details, this UNESCO World Heritage Site invites exploration through its tranquil courtyards and spiritual pathways, offering a glimpse into Japan’s feudal past.

Next, the tour heads towards the mountains to discover one of the region’s most breathtaking natural landmarks: Kegon Falls. Towering nearly 100 metres, the waterfall is a powerful yet peaceful spectacle, surrounded by cliffs and forest. It’s a perfect spot for lunch and reflection amid dramatic natural scenery.
(Please note: in the event of weather-related road closures, the Kegon Falls visit will be substituted with a stop at the historic Rinnoji Temple, a significant cultural site also located in Nikko.)

The afternoon brings a visit to the tranquil Lake Chuzenji, nestled at the base of Mount Nantai. Known for its scenic beauty and calm atmosphere, the lake offers a final moment of stillness and natural harmony before returning to the energy of the capital.

As the bus makes its way back to Tokyo, travellers carry with them lasting impressions of a day immersed in Japan’s sacred heritage and majestic natural surroundings.
