What you can expect

Guided tour about the creation and use of the historic rock passages over the last 700 years

Over the course of many centuries, the citizens of Nuremberg dug vaults and corridors in the luminous coloured sandstone beneath their city. The extensive rock cellar complex was first mentioned in a document in 1380. Over the many years, the cellars were primarily used for the maturation and storage of beer – above all, the red Nürnberger Stadtbier.

Today, the Altstadthof brewery once again uses a small part of the branched, labyrinthine cellar system for the maturation and storage of speciality beers and beer brandies.
The guided tours naturally include a visit to the brewery and the whisky distillery. The specialities, above all the original Nuremberg red beer, can then be tasted in the tasting boutique, in the Bräustüberl, in the restaurant, or in the Schmelztiegel cellar bar of the brewery. Come and visit – it's worth it!
