What you can expect

Start this experience with pick-up from your hotel or a meeting point in city centre Oaxaca de Juárez. Travel through the beautiful scenery of the Central Valleys while discovering the region's traditions, gastronomy, and Zapotec culture.

The first stop will be the majestic El Tule Tree, famous for having one of the widest trunks in the world and considered a symbol of Oaxaca.

Continue to Teotitlán del Valle, where you'll learn about the traditional process of making Oaxacan chocolate. Learn how cocoa is transformed, from grinding the beans to making the famous drink of the gods and the final products that are part of the local gastronomy.

In the same village, you'll visit a family-owned wool rug workshop, where you'll discover the ancient weaving techniques inherited from Zapotec culture. See how natural dyes are obtained from plants, minerals, and insects such as the cochineal, which is used to produce intense red tones.

The next stop will be the ancient Zapotec city of Mitla Archaeological Site, known for its impressive geometric stone mosaics and its historical importance within Zapotec culture.

We'll then continue to Hierve el Agua, one of the most impressive natural landscapes in the state. Explore the famous petrified waterfalls, hike the trails, and enjoy incredible panoramic mountain views.

To round off the experience, visit a handmade mezcal factory where you'll learn about each stage of production of this iconic drink, from the cultivation and selection of the different types of agave to the processes of cooking, fermentation, and distillation. Plus, enjoy a guided tasting with more than 15 varieties of mezcal and other products made from agave.

Finally, we'll return to Oaxaca after a day full of culture, nature, and traditional flavours.
