Learn to surf on Orewa Beach, your closest Auckland east coast surf! Our 2-hour group surf lessons are run by passionate, experienced instructors who tailor each session to your ability, making sure you’re safe, having fun, and progressing fast.

Start with a beach safety briefing and learn about ocean awareness, wind, and wave reading. Get an introduction to surfboard use, ocean entry, and handling. Practice catching waves with proper body and hand positioning.

Learn effective paddling and master the “pop-up” technique. Stand up and ride waves. Once you’ve mastered the basics (typically after several lessons), learn how to accelerate, turn, and select waves. Get “out the back” and position for unbroken waves.

Learn about timing, take-offs, and surfing etiquette.
