What you can expect

This sightseeing tour begins in Panama City and heads towards Chagres National Park, a 1-hour 15-minute drive away. Once we arrive at the port, we'll board a canoe built by the native people and travel along the Chagres River, the main tributary of the Panama Canal, to a waterfall in the middle of the rainforest, where you'll have the opportunity to enjoy its crystal-clear waters. (The hike to the waterfall can take 20 to 30 minutes along a trail.) Afterwards, we'll return to the village where the Embera people will share their history, talk about their culture, how they migrated from the Darien jungle, and their contributions to research. Later, they will serve you a traditional lunch featuring tilapia caught that morning in Lake Alajuela, plantains, and other seasonal tropical fruits. You'll also participate in traditional dances, go on a sightseeing tour of the village, and have the opportunity to purchase their handmade crafts. You'll have the opportunity to take photos with them and see first-hand how they live and prepare their food. After this great experience, we'll return to the hotel or an agreed-upon location.
