The Paricutin Volcano is one of the #7natural wonders of the world that you shouldn't miss when travelling in Mexico.
Note: The climb to the crater requires excellent physical fitness and a willingness to ride horses for hours, walk long distances, and climb volcanic rocks and ash.
The excursion by 4x4 lorry or on horseback, your choice, takes about 2–4 hours and is the only way to take a shortcut to the crater path. The local Indian guide will lead the climb to the very top by stepping on the big rocks trying not to roll down. On the way back to the car after 6 hours, we can still stop at the remains of the local church that was destroyed by lava flows.
