Activity itinerary

Ypapanti's Cave

  • 10m
Grava Ypapantis / Ypapanti Cave – the "Poseidon cave" (pass by) The largest and most famous sea cave on Paxos, roughly 20 m tall at the entrance. Greek legend places Poseidon's marble palace (built for his love Amphitrite) inside this cave, and in WWII the Greek submarine Papanikolis used it as a hiding spot. The big cruise boats usually pause outside for views rather than entering fully, because the cave extends deep into the cliff.

Tripitos Arch (Pass by)

A huge natural rock arch sculpted by the sea, forming a "bridge" of stone surrounded by bright blue-green water. The boat slows alongside so you can admire and photograph it from the water. Along the same stretch the boat also passes (without entering) Ortholithos – a tall vertical standing rock rising out of the sea – and the Tripitos Arch (Kamara), a natural stone-bridge rock formation.

Ahai cave

  • 10m
Ahai (Achai) Caves (go in – photo stop) A trio of interconnected sea caves a little further along the coast. The captain takes the boat inside for a photo stop — one of the caves has a partially collapsed roof that lets shafts of sunlight pour down onto the water, and a third hides a tiny beach within. This is the most spectacular "inside-the-cave" moment of the day.

Voutoumi Beach

  • 1h
The boat drops anchor off Voutoumi (often called the "Paradise Beach" of Antipaxos), famous for its white sand and almost unreal turquoise water that has earned it Caribbean comparisons. You have about an hour to jump in, swim, snorkel, or tender to the beach. If the wind is wrong, the boat anchors at nearby Vrika or Mesovrika instead.

Gaios

  • 2h
The capital of Paxos, tucked inside a beautiful narrow channel formed by the islets of Panagia and Agios Nikolaos — making it look more like a river than a harbour. You get around two hours to stroll the narrow streets, browse the little shops, and enjoy lunch at one of the waterfront tavernas. (On certain days the stop is in Lakka, a quieter horseshoe-shaped bay on the north of the island, instead.)

Mongonissi Beach (Pass by)

On the way back the boat sails along the calmer east coast of Paxos, passing the little islet of Mongonisi (connected to Paxos by a narrow causeway) and the small round rock of Skaltsonisi.
