The Glacier National Park is famous for its stunning glaciers, a total of 47! Here, time seems to have stopped 10,000 years ago, creating a cold and wild environment.
The highlight of our adventure is the iconic Perito Moreno Glacier, located in the southwest of Lake Argentino, just 80 km from El Calafate, named after a famous Argentine explorer of the 20th century.
The Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the few glaciers in the world that is still advancing, and its continuous movement makes it a natural spectacle that attracts visitors from around the globe.
From time to time, its imposing 60-meter-high front releases enormous ice blocks, the size of buildings, that fall into the waters of Brazo Rico and Canal de los Témpanos, creating a phenomenon that can be observed from the boat.
But the adventure doesn't end there. As the glacier advances, it approaches the Magallanes Peninsula, where walkways and viewpoints offer spectacular views.
This natural process has a cycle of 4 to 6 years, and when it is complete, the glacier divides the lake in two. Brazo Rico becomes dammed, rising about 35 metres above its normal level.
Over time, the water carves a tunnel at the front of the glacier until pressure causes an impressive collapse. Get ready for an indescribable spectacle!
The waters crash down in enormous waves, creating a moment that will be etched in your memories. An adventure you cannot miss on your next holiday in Argentina!
