Explore our historic observatory on a 90-minute guided tour that reveals the stories of astronomy in Western Australia. See the Astrograph Telescope that produced over 28,000 glass photographic plates and contributed key data for Comet Halley, and visit the Lowell Telescope built for NASA’s International Planetary Patrol programme. Discover cultural connections to the night sky in our Indigenous Astronomy Centre, learn about modern telescopes used in Night Sky Tours, and explore our heritage museum featuring rare timepieces, historic star atlases, and an iron meteorite. Surrounded by the bushland of John Forrest National Park, you may also spot kangaroos, birdlife, and the occasional emu. Complimentary tea or coffee is included, and visitors can browse the Astroshop for astronomy-themed gifts and refreshments.
