We will set off for the archipelago aboard my “Blue Taurus,” a typical 5-meter (16-foot) Ligurian gozzo boat, a symbol of seafaring in these waters. As we leave the port, you will be able to admire the town of Portovenere from the sea, a pearl of the Poet's Gulf and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its characteristic colourful tower-houses and the small Church of San Pietro perched on the cliff. As we continue, we will begin to explore the archipelago, with its three islands featuring high cliffs: Palmaria, Tino, and Tinetto. You will see Torre Scola, an ancient ruined fortress in the middle of the sea, and we will proceed along the coast to discover hidden coves and inlets, where you can dive in for a refreshing swim and snorkel in the crystal-clear, turquoise waters of these beautiful islands. On Tino, you will see the island’s lighthouse and learn the legend of St. Venerius, the island’s patron saint, who rests beneath the ruins of his monastery. Continuing towards Tinetto, we will reach the statue of Stella Maris, the Virgin Mary, perched on a rock in the middle of the sea like a solitary guardian. As we sail beneath the high cliffs of these islands, you will be able to admire their caves, and then we will conclude the tour by returning to Portovenere.
