Pioneertown

  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
On this stop in Pioneertown, travellers will step back in time to an Old West-style film set built in the 1940s. Originally created for Hollywood films, this charming desert town features rustic wooden buildings, saloons and a general store, all designed to capture the essence of the Wild West. During your hour-long visit, you’ll have time to stroll along Mane Street, explore the Pioneertown Museum—filled with fascinating artefacts and history about the town’s Hollywood past - and snap some great photos of the unique Western scenery.

Joshua Tree Visitor Center

  • 30m
  • Admission ticket included
Before exploring Joshua Tree National Park, you’ll start with a breakfast stop in the city of Joshua Tree, where travellers can choose a local restaurant to enjoy a meal. Whether it’s a cosy café serving freshly brewed coffee and pastries or a diner offering classic breakfast favourites, this is the perfect time to relax and prepare for the adventure ahead. After breakfast, we’ll visit the Joshua Tree Visitor Centre, the main gateway to the national park. Here, you’ll have about 30 minutes to browse informative exhibits, learn about the park’s unique desert ecosystem, and pick up maps or souvenirs. Park rangers are available to answer any questions and provide insights into the best spots to explore. This is also a great time to use the facilities before we continue our journey into Joshua Tree National Park!

Hidden Valley

  • 1h 30m
  • Admission ticket included
Next, you’ll explore Hidden Valley, one of the most scenic and iconic areas in Joshua Tree National Park. You’ll spend about 1.5 hours here, walking the 1-mile (1.6 km) loop trail that winds through a stunning natural rock enclosure. Surrounded by towering boulders, Hidden Valley is known for its unique geology and fascinating history. According to legend, this secluded valley was once used by cattle rustlers as a hideout. Today, it’s a paradise for hikers, rock climbers, and nature lovers. As we walk the trail, you’ll see impressive rock formations, massive boulders balanced in gravity-defying ways, and a variety of desert plants, including Joshua trees, yuccas, and pinyon pines. This stop offers plenty of opportunities for photography, light scrambling on the rocks, and soaking in the peaceful desert atmosphere.

Skull Rock

  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
Your next stop is Skull Rock, one of Joshua Tree National Park’s most famous and easily recognisable rock formations. We’ll spend about one hour here, giving you plenty of time to explore, take photos, and enjoy the surrounding landscape. Skull Rock gets its name from its eerie, skull-like appearance, which was formed naturally over thousands of years by erosion. The hollowed-out “eye sockets” and rounded shape make it a fascinating sight and a favourite among photographers. The rock is located right next to the road, making it easy to access.

Arch Rock Nature Trail

  • 1h 30m
  • Admission ticket included
Next, you’ll set out on a 1.5-hour hike to discover two incredible natural rock formations—Heart Rock and Arch Rock. This hike offers a mix of adventure, stunning desert landscapes, and unique geological formations that make for fantastic photo opportunities. You’ll begin on the Arch Rock Trail, a relatively easy 0.5 miles loop that winds through a field of massive boulders, leading to the famous Arch Rock—a stunning 30-foot natural rock arch formed over thousands of years by erosion. The smooth, curving shape of the arch makes it one of the most photographed spots in the park. You’ll have time to climb around the surrounding rocks and find the perfect angle to capture this iconic landmark. From there, you’ll continue our search for Heart Rock, a lesser-known but equally fascinating formation. Shaped like a heart, this natural rock is a hidden gem tucked among the boulders. Spotting it feels like a rewarding treasure hunt, making it a fun and memorable stop.

Keys View

  • 30m
  • Admission ticket included
To end your Joshua Tree adventure on a breathtaking note, you’ll head to Keys View, the park’s most spectacular panoramic viewpoint, you will try to be there in time for sunset and we’ll spend about 30 minutes here, taking in the stunning views as the desert landscape is bathed in golden light. Perched at over 5,000 feet (1,524 metres) above sea level, Keys View offers a sweeping vista of the Coachella Valley, the San Andreas Fault, and, on a clear day, even the distant peaks of Mexico. As the sun begins to set, the sky transforms into a blend of warm oranges, pinks, and purples, creating a magical and peaceful atmosphere.

Intersection Rock

  • 2h
  • Admission ticket included
After soaking in the breathtaking sunset at Keys View, you’ll head into town for a relaxing dinner at a local restaurant. This is the perfect time to unwind, enjoy a delicious meal, and share stories from the day’s adventures. For those who still have an energy and want to experience the magic of the desert at night, this offers an optional return to the park for stargazing. Joshua Tree is designated as an International Dark Sky Park, meaning it has some of the best stargazing conditions in the world. Away from city lights, the night sky comes alive with countless stars, the glowing band of the Milky Way, and, if we’re lucky, a glimpse of shooting stars. You’ll find a quiet spot to take in the silence and vastness of the night sky, making for a peaceful and unforgettable way to end the day before heading back.
