Day 1: Get picked up from your Marrakech hotel and drive out of the city and over the peaks and passes of the High Atlas. Cut a course towards the long-abandoned kasbah of Telouet, the once-opulent home of the Lords of the Atlas that now sits in crumbling, ruined beauty off the old caravan road. Continue on to the impressive forts and earthen architecture of the ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou, whose atmospheric lanes have served as a backdrop in countless Hollywood films. Have lunch here before continuing on through the Draa Valley to reach the town of Agdz, a historic oasis known for its leafy palm grove and ancient mudbrick homes.

Day 2: Spend some time exploring Agdz before heading back out along the old caravan road to reach M’hamid, where the road ends and fades into the peach-hued sands of the Sahara. Lunch at the nomadic camp of Erg Lihoudi, and then trade the 4x4 for a camel and set out across the golden dunes. After your ride, jump back in the vehicle for the off-road journey to Erg Chigaga, the largest and wildest dune in Morocco. Spend the night under the stars at a bivouac tent camp.

Day 3:After breakfast, set out for another drive through desert landscapes, including Lake Iriqui, which alternates between being a life-giving wetland and a barren salt flat at different times of year. Lunch in the village of Foum Zguid, where you can also take a refreshing shower if you'd like. On the drive back to Marrakech, stop in Taznakht to browse their famous Berber carpets
