Overview

Statue of Unity is the world's tallest statue and is a massive and yet mesmerizingly beautiful statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It is located in the Kevadiya Colony of Narmada district in the state of Gujarat. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was the first deputy Prime Minister of India and was the pioneer to unite 562 princely states of India to form the single large 'Union of India' and without any bloodshed. The Statue of Unity, the highest monument in the world at 182 metres, honours Sardar Patel, who brought together more than 500 princely kingdoms to form the Union of India. The world's highest monument is the Statue of Unity. It is nearly twice as tall as the Statue of Liberty in the United States of America, standing at 182 metres. This renowned monument took three and a half years to create, involving 300 engineers and 3000 workers. The Statue of Unity, which was designed by the renowned artist Ram V. Sutar, was constructed using 1,700 metric tonnes of bronze, 70,000 tonnes of cement, 18,500 tonnes of reinforcement steel, and 6,000 tonnes of structural steel. The 30 second ride leads to a panoramic views of the Sardar Sarovar Dam, its reservoir, the Satpura and Vindhya mountains.
