Experience two of Kenya’s most iconic safari destinations on a 3-day adventure from Mombasa or Diani. Search for Tsavo East’s famous red elephants, explore Amboseli’s open plains and wetlands, and enjoy the chance to photograph elephant herds with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background when the skies are clear.
Day 1: Mombasa/Diani to Tsavo East – Land of the Red Elephants
Begin with an early-morning pickup from your hotel and travel inland towards Tsavo East National Park. Enter the park for a game drive across its vast red-earth plains, searching for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes and other wildlife.
Tsavo East is famous for its red elephants, which often coat themselves in the park’s distinctive red soil. Enjoy the changing scenery and keep your camera ready for wildlife encounters. After your safari activities, continue to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Tsavo East to Amboseli – Elephants and Kilimanjaro Scenery
After breakfast, travel towards Amboseli National Park, known for its large elephant herds, open grasslands and seasonal wetlands. Enjoy an afternoon game drive, searching for elephants and other wildlife across the park’s varied habitats.
When weather conditions are clear, Mount Kilimanjaro may rise above the plains, creating a memorable backdrop for wildlife photography. After your game drive, return to your lodge or camp for dinner and your second overnight stay.
Day 3: Amboseli Sunrise Safari and Return to the Coast
Start the day with an early-morning game drive, when wildlife may be active and the soft morning light creates excellent photography opportunities. Search for elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, lions and other animals as you explore Amboseli’s landscapes.
After breakfast and check-out, begin your return journey to Mombasa or Diani. Your arrival time will depend on the road conditions, your drop-off location and the day’s schedule.
Travel in a safari vehicle with an experienced driver-guide and enjoy two contrasting landscapes in one memorable journey. Wildlife sightings and views of Mount Kilimanjaro depend on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed.
