Nestled in the heart of the Cilaos cirque, this iconic canyon originates on the slopes of the ancient crater of Piton des Neiges. Bras Rouge is a route that is both fun, beautiful and decidedly aquatic, ideal for thrill seekers and lovers of spectacular scenery.

The adventure begins with an approach of about 30 minutes through dense tropical vegetation, before reaching a scree slope shaped by successive rockfalls. This gradual progression naturally leads to the first rappels and sets the tone for the day.

Entry into the canyon is at the exit of the famous Bras Rouge cirque, the main water collection basin of the Cilaos cirque. After a safety and technical briefing, the descent begins with a 25-meter dry abseil, offering a spectacular first immersion in the rocky environment. You will then put on your wetsuits to tackle the aquatic section.

A second abseil, this time wet, leads to the base of an impressive waterfall of about 70 metres, cascading into a vast natural pool. The walls, tinged red by iron oxide and interspersed with bluish and dark shades, create a striking backdrop.

The rest of the route features several successive obstacles, which can be tackled according to your preference and the level of thrills you're looking for:

by rappel-slide, for a gentler and more gradual descent,

or via large natural slides, for a more adventurous and fun experience.

As the gorge widens, the canyon takes on a more open atmosphere. The first part of the descent usually ends at around noon.

Optional: Extension to the full route for approximately 3 additional hours, for participants who wish to take the experience further.
