Know before you book

  • At least 2 people are required for this product to take place.
  • Pick-up and drop off to your hotel or accommodation within 15 km (driving distance) from Rovaniemi city centre
  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by a paying adult.
  • Infant under 2 are complimentary.
  • Please be ready and waiting in your hotel lobby 10 minutes prior to your scheduled pick up time.

  • From December to the end of January, Rovaniemi experiences a very high level of tourist traffic, which is why we often have to form exceptionally large groups for this activity. For a more private experience, we recommend that you book the Northern Lights Photography Tour - Small Group instead.

What you can expect

Join a professional Aurora Borealis photographer and learn the tricks of the trade for capturing that perfect Northern Lights moment. The professional photographer will also take the best shots for you! Head about 30 to 50 kilometres into the mystical forest, away from the light pollution of the city.

Your tour guide will explain how the Northern Lights are formed and tell ancient tales from the local Sami and Lappish cultures. The photographer can provide guidance in setting up the best shooting angles, shooting screen, camera settings, and more.

To keep you going, sit down for a campfire BBQ and grill some local favourites and delicacies of reindeer sausage and blueberry tea. The photographer will also provide photos of you and the Northern Lights, so you will have a record of every wonderful moment!

After the trip, you will receive your Northern Lights photos by email so that you may download them without any additional cost.
