Timo is originally from Posio, where Riisitunturi is located, and has been visiting the park since he was a baby. Growing up in a family that spent a lot of time hiking in nature, Riisitunturi became a familiar and meaningful place early on. Since then, he has returned here year after year — building a deep, personal understanding of the landscapes, trails and atmosphere of the area.

One of the highlights of the route is the beautiful Ikkunalampi, a small but unique pond surrounded by nature. In summer, this spot becomes especially picturesque and offers a perfect place to pause, take photos and enjoy the silence of the national park.

Around halfway through the hike, you’ll stop for a traditional Lappish BBQ lunch in nature, creating a cosy and authentic break in the middle of the peaceful surroundings. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available on request.
