We will start our journey from your hotel in Salou, Cambrils or Tarragona at the agreed time, heading for our first stop, the charming village of Siurana, on a journey of approximately 1 hour.
We will head to the beautiful town of Montblanc, famous for being home to the largest walled enclosure in Catalonia. We will stroll through its streets and see the Church of Santa Maria de Montblanc, the first Romanesque church located in the upper part of a town.
After exploring Montblanc, we will visit the Celler Cooperatiu de Cornudella de Montsant, a modernist winery founded in 1919 and considered an industrial monument. The winery is notable for its parabolic arches, designed by the architect Cèsar Martinell. Here, you can tour the facilities, learn about the history and culture of wine, and enjoy a guided tasting. If you like, you can also visit the vineyards in a 4×4 and take a walk along the old Carthusian Trail to the winery.
Time for lunch at a typical regional farmhouse.
We will then continue on to Siurana, a quaint village known for its stone houses and cobbled streets. Perched high on a cliff, it overlooks the only entrance to the village, offering spectacular views of the surrounding area, including the Siurana Reservoir and the nearby mountains, which are coloured in shades of brown and red.
Our tour will include Siurana Castle, the ruins of an ancient Moorish fortress located in the highest part of the village. Although today only the base of the tower and some walls remain, this site was of great importance in the Middle Ages. It was the last castle recaptured from the Muslims by the Christian army in Catalonia, marking a significant milestone in the region's history.
We will then return to Salou, rounding out a day full of history, culture, and flavours. You will be dropped off at your hotel, bringing to a close a day filled with discoveries and unforgettable experiences.
