What you can expect

Begin your journey at Osaka Castle, the iconic fortress built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in the late 16th century as a symbol of power and unification. Explore the castle grounds, towering stone walls, and museum exhibits while learning about Hideyoshi’s remarkable rise from humble origins to becoming the ruler who helped unify Japan.

Continue to the Osaka Museum of History to gain deeper insight into Osaka during the Toyotomi period and discover how the castle town developed into an important political and commercial centre—plus a hidden viewpoint that quietly reveals the full Osaka Castle complex from above.

After enjoying lunch in Osaka’s local Tanimachi district, travel by train to Kyoto for the second half of the experience focused on Nene and the cultural legacy she preserved after Hideyoshi’s death.

Visit the peaceful Zen temple Kōdai-ji, founded by Nene in memory of her husband, and admire its beautiful gardens, bamboo groves, and historic architecture. Walk through the charming stone-paved streets of Nene-no-Michi before ending at Entoku-in, where Nene spent her later years surrounded by tranquil Zen gardens.
