Overview

When you’re picked up from Keelung Cruise Port, we recommend this shared tour for who has just one day to discover both history and view of northern Taiwan.

  • Shifen Waterfall, a 40m tall waterfall that creates a rainbow as it splashes into the lake
  • Located in the Pingxi area, Shifen Old Streets is a collection of lanes and alleys, originally built for transporting coal during the Japanese era
  • Both Pingxi and Shifen are rich in culture and history and provide natural scenery. Events like Sky Lantern Festival draw visitors to create a Lantern with a wish written on it to set into the sky
  • During World War II, Jiufen housed a Japanese prisoner of war camp where captured Allied Force soldiers were forced to work in the gold mines
  • Golden Waterfall's distinct colour and name come from the metals left over from the old gold mine

We provide Muslim-friendly services like bathroom facilities, halal prayer room, meals at halal certified restaurant, seafood or vegetarian restaurant.

Activity itinerary

Yin Yang Sea
  • 30m
Yin Yang Sea is located beside the northern coastal road in the Gold Ecological Park region, a curiously coloured patch of water. The complementary blue and yellow colouring of this bay brings to mind the ancient Chinese principle of yin and yang, the natural concept of duality.
Golden Waterfall
  • 30m
Golden Waterfall is near the Yin-Yang Sea in the Jinguashi Gold Ecological Park region. The red background of Golden Waterfall comes from the sulfurous soil and it contains a high level of toxic. Along the way to Golden Waterfall, you may find the abandoned factories were built for the gold mining.
Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street)
  • 2h
Jiufen is a unique immigrant isolated village in the mountains in the Qing dynasty. When Taiwan was under Japanese rule, there was a gold rush in Jiufen. This place is also famous for taro ball, fish ball, and rice cake. If tourists are tired after walking so long, you can rest in the tea house to taste the delicacies of Jiufen. Jiufen becomes famous after Hou Hsiao-hsien's A City of Sadness film which narrates a Taiwanese storey in Jiufen.
Shifen Waterfall
  • 30m
Shifen Waterfall is a 40-meter high waterfall. If you visit Shifen Waterfall in summer, you can feel the cool water and refreshing air in the mountains. The trail near Shifen Waterfall is also good for exploring. Walking into the forests, you’ll be bathed in the relaxation and tranquility.
Shifen Old Street
  • 2h
The sky lantern is also called Kongming lantern, which is used for praying for safety, love, and career now. Tourists can write your wishes on the lantern, however, it was used for informing others that this village is safe before. We will release the eco-friendly sky lantern on the train track, which is very fascinating and harmless to the environment. After releasing a sky lantern, you can also buy the nostalgic marble soft drink in Shifen Old Street.
