What you can expect

Zambia is one of the top African bird watching destinations for twitchers. Birding in Zambia is so diverse and it’s done in the most scenic places of the country such as the Lochinvar National Park and Bangweulu wetlands. The first time birdwatcher travellers shouldn’t miss out on this incredible Shoebill Stork birdwatching safari experience for 15 days. Amongst many bird species, you will see the Wattled Cranes in Lochinvar National Park in Southern Zambia and the much sought after pre-historical birds the Shoebill Stork in the Bangweulu wetlands in Northen Zambia.

Zambia has over 750 bird species, of which 120 or so are not found south of the Zambezi. It is, arguably, the best place to search for one of world’s most desired bird special: The Shoebill stork.

Lochinvar National Park

When travellers undertake Zambia birding trips, the Lochinvar National Park is usually the obvious destination of choice. This is because they experience the highlights of the best world bird watching safari concentrated along the same riverine frontage without fighting the peak season crowd common in other national parks!

Lochinvar National Park is home to plenty different bird species combined numbering close to 500 bird species. Hundreds of wattled cranes can be seen feeding on vegetable matter dug from the soft mud and the large marabou stork can be seen scavenging for stranded fish. The Lochinvar National Park is also particularly known for the large herds of Kafue Lechwe. More than 30,000 of them make the flats their home and move seasonally according to the flood levels.

Bangweulu Wetlands

The Bangweulu Wetlands is the best place in the world to see the mighty shoebill, especially in season. So come over to do this exceptional bird watching tour excursion that takes you from Livingstone, Kafue National Park, Mumbwa Game Management Area (GMA), Forest Inn, Kasanka National Park, Bangweulu Wetlands and finally end up in Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia.

Day 1:

You arrive in Livingstone, the tourist capital city of Zambia. You will be met at the Livingstone International Airport by our driver and hospitality Greeter. You will be transferred and stay at Maramba River Lodge (sharing) or at any other Eco - friendly lodge in the greater Livingstone city area.

Day 2: Still staying at Maramba Rive Lodge in Livingstone

We will then check out some birds around Maramba River Lodge.
