What to Expect
• Walk with the Sikerei: Meet the Mentawai Shaman, the spiritual guardians of the forest, and learn the ancient link between nature and soul.
• The Living “Uma”: Become a member of the family. Share the daily meals and cultural exchange within a traditional Mentawai longhouse.
• True Wilderness: Navigate hidden rivers by dugout canoe and trek through the untouched rainforest of Siberut.
Day 1 | The Crossing: Padang – Siberut Island
• 06:00: Morning pickup in Padang
• 07:00: Fast Ferry departure to the Mentawai archipelago.
• Afternoon: Arrival in South Siberut. We swap the ferry for a motorised dugout canoe, winding 1.5 hours deep into the Rereiket jungle.
• Evening: A 2.5km trek brings us to the family Uma. Settle in for your first traditional dinner under the forest canopy.
Day 2 | Living the Tradition: Immersion with the tribe family
• Jungle Immersion: Participate in daily life. Help gather food, prepare meals, and learn the “Mentawai Style” of jungle living.
• Skills & Survival: Learn to weave rattan bags, craft jungle huts, and witness the preparation of traditional hunting tools.
• During our stay, we will experience living traditionally like the Mentawai community.
Note: This experience will push you beyond your comfort zone. Unlike a standard itinerary, this journey is flexible, allowing for a deeper immersion into local life and culture. • After a final jungle breakfast, we trek back to the riverbank.
• River & Transit: We board our motorised dugout canoe for a final glide through the Siberut waterways, arriving at our transit village near the port.
• The Return Crossing: After a final local lunch at the port, we depart Siberut at 2:40 PM via the fast ferry.
• Arrival in Padang: We reach Padang harbour at approximately 6:30 PM, where our team will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel. Tour End
