Goaldi Mosque can be one of the first highlights of our tour. It is one of the oldest surviving mosques in Bangladesh, built in 1519 during the reign of Sultan Alauddin Husain Shah of the Bengal Sultanate. Located in the historic city of Sonargaon, near the famous Panam Nagar, the mosque stands as a remarkable example of early Muslim architecture in the region. The mosque features a single dome and is relatively small in size, yet it is admired for its elegant proportions and detailed terracotta ornamentation. The thick walls, beautifully decorated mihrab, and intricate carvings reflect the artistic excellence of the Sultanate period. Despite its age, the structure has been well preserved and continues to attract visitors interested in history and architecture. Visiting Goaldi Mosque offers a glimpse into the rich cultural and religious heritage of medieval Bengal, making it a meaningful and memorable starting point for the Sonargaon tour.

The next stop of our tour will be Panam Nagar, located in the historic city of Sonargaon. Panam Nagar was once a prosperous trading town, mainly inhabited by wealthy Hindu merchants during the Mughal and British periods. The area is famous for its long street lined with around 50 historic buildings, showing a blend of Mughal and colonial architecture. Today, it is an abandoned city, but its beautiful structures and quiet atmosphere offer a unique glimpse into the past, making it a great spot for history lovers and photography.

The next stop will be Bangladesh Folk Art and Craft Museum, also known as the Jaynul Abedin Folk Art and Craft Museum, located in Sonargaon. This museum was established by the renowned artist Zainul Abedin to preserve the rich folk heritage of Bangladesh. It showcases a wide collection of traditional crafts, including pottery, woodwork, masks, textiles, and rural artworks. The museum itself is beautiful, with gardens, lakes, and historic buildings that create a peaceful atmosphere. Visiting this place gives a deeper understanding of Bangladesh’s rural culture, traditions, and artistic history, making it an important cultural stop on the tour.

Nolchor Island is a beautiful river island formed in the mighty Meghna River. It is known for its natural beauty, open landscape, and peaceful environment away from city life. The island offers a rural experience with green fields, sandy riverbanks, and local village life. Visitors can enjoy boat rides, fresh air, and scenic views, making it a perfect spot to relax and experience the simplicity of nature.

Return to Dhaka city for our lunch. We will visit Nazira Bazar and try either famous Haji Biriyani or Hanif Biriyani. You can also try Veg options in Shakhari Bazar area.

The next stop will be Lalbagh Fort, a 17th-century Mughal fort built by Prince Muhammad Azam Shah. Although unfinished, it remains one of the most iconic historical sites in Dhaka, featuring beautiful gardens, a mosque, and the tomb of Pari Bibi.

After that, we will visit Ahsan Manzil, also known as the Pink Palace. It was the residence of the Nawabs of Dhaka and now serves as a museum showcasing royal lifestyle and history.

Next, we will visit Curzon Hall, a beautiful colonial-era building and an important part of University of Dhaka, known for its stunning architecture.

After that, we will stop at Central Shaheed Minar, a national monument dedicated to the martyrs of the Language Movement.

The next stop will be Shahbagh Flower Market, a colourful and lively place where locals buy fresh flowers for daily use and special occasions.
