What you can expect

Your day begins with a comfortable hotel pick-up anywhere in Mauritius, followed by a scenic drive into the island’s lush interior as coastal views give way to cooler highlands and dense greenery. Your guide introduces the journey ahead, blending nature, culture, and dramatic landscapes.

First, you arrive at Mare aux Vacoas, the largest freshwater reservoir in Mauritius. Surrounded by thick forest and often shrouded in mist, this peaceful lake sits high on the central plateau. The calm atmosphere, fresh air, and quiet surroundings make it a perfect introduction to the island’s natural beauty.

You then continue to Grand Bassin (Ganga Talao), a sacred crater lake and one of the most important Hindu pilgrimage sites outside India. Temples and shrines line the water’s edge, while the towering 33-meter statue of Lord Shiva dominates the landscape. The setting is deeply spiritual, with incense in the air and pilgrims offering prayers in a serene, reflective environment.

Next, you visit Alexandra Falls, one of Mauritius’ most iconic viewpoints. From the platform, you’ll admire powerful waterfalls cascading through dense rainforest, with sweeping views over green valleys and the distant southern coast. The sound of rushing water and cool mountain breeze make this a refreshing stop.

The journey continues into Black River Gorges National Park, the island’s largest protected rainforest. From the viewpoint, you’ll see vast valleys, rugged cliffs, and endless green canopy stretching across the horizon—an impressive display of Mauritius’ untouched wilderness and biodiversity. You then reach Bassin Blanc, a dormant volcanic crater surrounded by forest. This peaceful location offers a striking 360-degree view over the island’s interior, creating a quiet moment above the clouds.

Afterwards, you explore Vallee des Couleurs Nature Park, famous for its surreal 23-colored earth. Vibrant dunes of red, purple, yellow, green, and brown create a natural rainbow landscape, alongside giant tortoises and scenic walking areas.

A short drive brings you to Chamouny Waterfall, a hidden cascade framed by lush vegetation—perfect for a peaceful photo stop. Lunch follows in Souillac, where you enjoy a traditional 3-course Mauritian meal featuring local curries, fresh fish, rice, and flavourful island dishes.

Afterwards, you head to Gris Gris Beach, a wild coastline where powerful waves crash directly against cliffs, revealing dramatic views like the “Roche Qui Pleure.” Finally, you visit La Vanille Nature Park, home to giant tortoises, crocodiles, and rare species exhibits including the extinct dodo. After this immersive wildlife experience, you return comfortably to your hotel.
