Experience the “Miracle of Stuttgart”: Europe's largest city model unfolds over 180 m² and shows Stuttgart in the 1980s and 1990s with impressive attention to detail. This is expressly not a classic model railway – the focus is on the city, its history, and countless lovingly designed details.
The entire model was created by just one person: Wolfgang Frey. The dispatcher worked part-time on his life's work for 15 years, using waste materials, bulky waste, paint, and glue, among other things. Over 450 buildings on a scale of 1:160, around 2,500 hand-painted vehicles, and 4,000 trees bring the Stuttgart of past decades back to life.
Nothing comes from prefabricated kits. Wolfgang Frey researched, planned, and made every element himself. Streets, buildings, squares, vehicles, trains and even the smallest details such as rubbish bins, fences or individually designed gravestones tell stories from Stuttgart. If you look closely, you will always discover something new.
The railway is also part of the city's history as depicted, but it is not the sole focus. One of the special exhibits is a former, fully functional signal box with a control panel about eight metres long.
