What you can expect

Learn about the art of professional sumo wrestling from 2 former wrestlers, including the rigorous training and combat technique. After throwing your own weight into the ring—complete with costume—sit down for a delicious and healthy lunch of chankonabe, a rich food used by wrestlers to bulk up.

Meet 2 former wrestlers and learn about the history of sumo wrestling, along with a few explanations of its many rigid traditions. Learn about the techniques used in matches and even some prohibited techniques. Observe 3 matches, and then don your sumo costume and jump in to face off against one of the wrestlers.

Afterwards, sit down for a healthy lunch of chankonabe, a hotpot typically eaten in large quantities by sumo wrestlers to gain weight.

Sample menu includes:

  • Chankonabe (hotpot with meat and vegetables)
  • Rice
  • Rikishi miso
  • Dosukoi salad
  • Chips
  • Citrus sorbet
  • Oolong tea, water, or hot water
