Torre Scola (Pass by)
The Torre Scola, or tower of San Giovanni Battista, is a fortified building built on a rock just beyond the northeastern tip (Punta Scola) of the island of Palmaria, in the municipality of Portovenere, in the province of La Spezia. Like other coastal towers and sighting and defence of the Ligurian coast, the Scola tower is also part of that defensive system decided by the Senate of the Republic of Genoa between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries to protect the coasts and villages.
