Bald Hill Lookout

The first stop of the day, on the escarpment above Stanwell Park. From the edge you look straight down the coast to the Sea Cliff Bridge curving around the base of the cliffs, and hang gliders usually launch from the grass beside you. This is the view the Grand Pacific Drive is built around.

Symbio Wildlife Park

A compact walk-through wildlife park in the bush above Helensburgh, and your entry is included. Koalas sit at eye level rather than high in a tree, the kangaroo enclosure is one you walk into, and there are wombats, dingoes, quokkas and red pandas along the loop. Small enough to see properly in an hour instead of at a jog.

Sea Cliff Bridge

One of the great stretches of the Grand Pacific Drive: a bridge built out over the water on piers, curving around the base of the cliffs with the surf breaking below. We stop so you can walk out on the pedestrian side and see it properly, not just drive across it.

Minnamurra Lookout

A short stop on the headland, looking down over a long curve of beach and the river mouth. Your driver-guide will walk the group to the spot the photographs get taken from.

Kiama Blowhole

Sea water is forced through a lava tube in the rock shelf and fires up out of the hole, sometimes well over head height when the swell is running from the south-east. It is weather-dependent, so your guide will tell you how it is behaving on the day. The lighthouse and the harbour are a short walk from it.

Gerringong

The last stop before the run home: a small dairy town on the hills above Werri Beach, where the green paddocks come right down to the sand. Time for a coffee or an ice cream and a look along the coast from the headland before we head back to Sydney.
