4-Day Central Taiwan Cultural & Nature Discovery
This four-day journey through central Taiwan begins in Taichung and offers a perfect balance of mountain scenery, spiritual landmarks, and local heritage.
Day 1 – Fenqihu & Alishan Forest Recreation Area
Depart from Taichung and ascend to the tranquil mountain village of Fenqihu, famous for its nostalgic old street and traditional bento lunch. Continue to the Alishan Forest Recreation Area, where you’ll walk through ancient cypress forests, experience the peaceful Giant Tree Trail, and admire panoramic views from the Alishan train. Day 2 – Chung Tai Chan Monastery & Sun Moon Lake

Day 3 – Changhua & Lukang Heritage Tour
Head to Changhua’s Baguashan Scenic Area to see the iconic Great Buddha statue and panoramic views of the city. Then visit Lukang, a historic town rich in traditional culture. Explore the Folk Arts Museum, ride a traditional trishaw through narrow alleys, and visit Lukang Tianhou Temple dedicated to Mazu, the sea goddess. Stroll along the old street lined with ancient red-brick houses and sample local snacks before returning to Taichung. End the evening at Fengjia Night Market, Taiwan’s largest, where endless street food and lively stalls await.
Day 4 – Taichung City Highlights
Discover Taichung’s creative and cultural side with visits to Rainbow Village, an inspiring community art project, and the National Taichung Theatre, a stunning architectural landmark. Continue to Miyahara, a beautifully restored red-brick building offering ice cream and souvenirs, then enjoy a relaxing walk along Calligraphy Greenway, surrounded by cafes and boutiques. Visit Tunghai University’s Luce Memorial Chapel, a modern architectural icon set in a peaceful campus. End the trip with a visit to Gaomei Wetlands, where you can watch the sunset over windmills and tidal flats—a perfect finale to this unforgettable central Taiwan adventure.
