The Murnauer Moos (regional term for moor) is one of the largest contiguous moor areas in Europe and a wonderful natural paradise – right in the heart of the Upper Bavarian Alpine foothills. On this approximately 3–4 km long guided tour (duration: approx. 150 minutes), you will learn how this impressive moorland area was formed over thousands of years, its importance for flora and fauna, and how landscape and nature conservation contribute to preserving this valuable ecosystem. We begin our journey together at the Biological Station. We stop at several points along the way to explain various topics. Finally, we take a look inside the Baroque-style St. George's Church, also known as "Ähndl" or "Ramsach Church."
