What you can expect
— Depart from Tokyo 7:20 AM –Start your day from JR Tokyo Station's Marunouchi North Exit, or relax with a convenient hotel pickup across 12 select Tokyo districts. Settle into your seat for the scenic ride south and watch the city melt into ocean views as we head for the Izu Peninsula. With a small group of just 6–9 guests, the whole day feels easy, personal, and never rushed.
— Mt. Omuro OR Izu Shaboten Zoo - You Choose! 2hr 20min –Here's the fun part: Mt. Omuro and Izu Shaboten Zoo sit just across the road from each other, so once you arrive you simply pick the one that excites you most. With around 140 minutes here, we'd genuinely recommend choosing one and enjoying it properly — trying to squeeze in both means a lot of rushing and not much soaking it in. So take your pick on the spot, no pressure. Mt. Omuro is Japan's lowest volcano and a real-life backdrop fans link to the anime “Your Name.” A quick 5-minute cable car floats you to the rim, where the whole peninsula opens up below — and on clear days, Mt. Fuji shows off in the distance. Prefer animals? Cross the road to Izu Shaboten Zoo, home to one of the world's largest cactus collections and free-roaming wildlife. The stars are the famous capybaras — feed them, watch them lounge, and in the cooler months catch the iconic capybara hot-spring soak that started right here.
— Izu Scenic Ocean Train 25min ride –Hop aboard the Izu Kyuko line from Izu-Kogen Station for a short but stunning coastal run towards Izu-Inatori. Big windows, blue Pacific, and that easy “I'm really on holiday now” feeling. Your train ticket is included — just sit back and watch the coastline roll by.
— Jogasaki Coast & Kadowaki Suspension Bridge 40min –Finish at one of Izu's most photogenic stretches of shoreline. The Jogasaki Coast is raw volcanic drama — black cliffs carved by the Pacific over thousands of years, with sea and mountains meeting on the horizon. Cross the 48-meter Kadowaki suspension bridge suspended above a clear rocky inlet, framed by deep green forest. It's the kind of view that makes the whole trip click.
— Return to Tokyo approx. 7:00 PM –We aim to arrive back at JR Tokyo Station around 7:00 PM (earlier if traffic is kind). Meeting-point guests wrap up at Tokyo Station; pickup-package guests are dropped back at their hotel. Tired feet, full camera roll, easy day done.
===FAQ===
Q: Do I visit both Mt. Omuro and the zoo?
A: You'll choose one. The two sit directly across the road from each other, and with about 140 minutes here, picking one lets you enjoy it at a relaxed pace instead of rushing both. You decide on the spot based on what you're more excited about — volcano views or capybara cuddles.
Q: Will I definitely see the capybara hot-spring soak?
A: The capybara onsen is a seasonal show, usually running from around early November to early April. Outside those dates the capybaras are still there to meet — just not in the bath. Specific dates can shift.
