What you can expect

Experience a peaceful and authentic side of Tokyo in Jiyugaoka, starting with a professional yukata dressing in a private studio. (Women only)Your instructor is an experienced kimono chest of drawers who has worked on coming-of-age ceremonies, stage performances, and idol costumes. From a curated selection of yukata, you will be guided to choose one that best suits your style and body, and it will be beautifully fitted for you.

During the dressing, you will also learn the basics of wearing a yukata, how the obi (belt) is tied, and simple tips on elegant posture and movement. With a small-group setting, you will receive personal attention and can relax while enjoying a calm and private experience.

Once dressed, take a short walk to a nearby peaceful shrine, Kumano Shrine. Surrounded by greenery and away from the crowds, you will learn simple etiquette and customs for visiting a Japanese shrine. This serene setting also offers a perfect opportunity for beautiful photos, and your instructor will guide you with natural posing tips to help you capture memorable moments.

After the walk, continue to a charming traditional café, Kosoan, located in a 100-year-old Japanese house. Relax in a tatami room and enjoy matcha green tea with seasonal Japanese sweets. This is not a formal tea ceremony, but a chance to experience the flavours and quiet atmosphere of everyday Japanese culture.

Through yukata dressing, a shrine visit, and a traditional café experience, you will discover the beauty and tranquility of Japanese culture with all your senses. Create your own special memories in the elegant and relaxed area of Jiyugaoka.
