WHAT YOU'LL DO

Your English-speaking guide meets you at Ichigaya Station and walks you to the pond, handling all registration, entry fees, rod rental, and bait preparation. No Japanese, no prior knowledge, and no equipment needed.

Before casting your first line, you'll receive a hands-on lesson in traditional Japanese float fishing: how to shape your bait into a teardrop, read the float's subtle movements, and choose the perfect split-second moment to pull. It's the same technique Tokyo anglers have used for decades.

Then comes 60 minutes of carp fishing in one of the city's most surreal settings. As you focus on the water, the vibrant yellow and orange JR Sobu Line trains glide smoothly past on the elevated tracks just behind the pond — a living contrast between old-school Tokyo recreation and modern urban life that you simply cannot find anywhere else.

When you hook a carp, your guide brings it in safely with a landing net (this is a catch-and-release pond) and captures your triumphant moment: you, the fish, and the iconic passing trains in the background.
