Settlements on palafitos that date from more than 100 years ago, where fishermen from their fishing activity, began building small palafitos where to rest, tie their canoe and spend the time of their activity. Thus they expanded the place of the palafito to be accompanied by his wife and children. Today there are 2 towns Buenavista and Nueva Venecia or El Morro, with approximately 3000 inhabitants where they work like this: fishermen, fish merchants, teachers, community mothers, bakeries, fuel shops, bongoduct, billiards. In each town there is a Church, the school and a football field.
An experience for the senses where you can appreciate the Sanctuary of Flora and Fauna of the Pajaral Swamp, made up of water mirrors, rivers, pipes, mangrove forest, wildlife and endemic birds, as well as palatitic villages that have settled in the lagoon complex.
Among the mangroves and a muddy floor stand out dozens of animal species, such as the shad, the white mojarra and the striped that decorate the place. The raven duck, the needle duck, the Chavarría and the marsh cock, among others, coexist with iguanas, alligators and the howler monkey.
