  • 20m
The tour continues along Uzun Sokak, Trabzon's busiest and most popular street, where our guests stop at a carefully selected local restaurant to enjoy a tasting of the world-famous Akçaabat Meatballs. While sharing the storey behind this iconic speciality and explaining its traditional preparation, our guide serves each guest a tasting menu consisting of two Akçaabat meatballs, a fresh salad, and a glass of ayran, Türkiye's beloved traditional yoghurt drink. After the tasting, the group continues to Kostaki Mansion, widely regarded as Trabzon's most beautiful historic residence and now home to the Trabzon Museum. In front of this magnificent landmark, our guide introduces the fascinating history and architectural significance of the mansion.

Yavuz Selim Bulvarı

The journey then continues to another carefully selected local restaurant, tucked away on one of Trabzon's charming backstreets and renowned for its authentic regional cuisine. Here, our guests enjoy a traditional tasting menu featuring kaygana, kuymak (muhlama), su böreği, hamsikuşu, and stuffed black cabbage leaves (kara lahana sarması). After experiencing these authentic flavours of the Black Sea region, the tour continues through the city.

St. Anne's Church

  • 10m
After enjoying these local delicacies, our guests continue their journey to Tanjant Avenue, the world's first street named after a mathematical term. From there, they take a pleasant five-minute walk to Saint Anne (Santa Ana) Church, the oldest surviving church in Trabzon, dating back to the period before the Empire of Trebizond (Pontus). Admission to the church is free of charge. Here, our guide shares the fascinating history and architectural significance of this remarkable monument before allowing guests approximately five minutes to explore the church at their own pace.

Tabakhane Köprüsü

The tour then proceeds to Tabakhane, a historic area that was once the centre of Trabzon's leather tanning industry. While enjoying traditional Turkish coffee and Turkish delight, they listen to the legendary love storey of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and Hürrem Sultan. During this stop, guests have the opportunity to see the birthplace of Suleiman the Magnificent, the statue of his father, Sultan Selim I (Yavuz Sultan Selim), and the historic church that was converted into Trabzon's first mosque by Sultan Mehmed II (Fatih Sultan Mehmet) following the Ottoman conquest of the city, and has since been known as the Fatih Mosque.

Zagnos Vadisi (Pass by)

Crossing the historic Zağnos Pasha Bridge, our guests enjoy spectacular views of Trabzon Castle, its ancient fortification walls stretching along the hillside, and the historic water channels flowing beneath the bridge. They also see the former Castle Dungeons, which today serve as a public library, as well as the imperial tughra (royal monogram) of Sultan Mehmed II (Fatih Sultan Mehmet) engraved on the castle walls. Inside the market, they visit a carefully selected local shop where they enjoy a tasting of traditional homemade Trabzon cheeses accompanied by rich, homemade Trabzon butter. The culinary journey continues at a local artisan bakery, where our guests sample Trabzon's famous large, round, crispy bread with its distinctive dark brown crust, as well as traditional cornbread, both freshly baked using local recipes passed down through generations.

Depending on the fishing season and daily availability, if anchovies are not available, guests are instead served a tasting of whiting (mezgit) or horse mackerel (istavrit), two of the region's most popular and widely enjoyed fish. To conclude this delicious culinary journey, our guests visit a carefully selected local restaurant to taste Hamsiköy Sütlacı, Trabzon's world-famous baked rice pudding. Prepared using a traditional recipe passed down through generations, this beloved dessert provides the perfect sweet ending to an unforgettable Black Sea gastronomic experience.

The tour continues to the historic Bedesten, the city's centuries-old covered marketplace, before arriving at Bakırcılar Yokuşu (Coppersmiths' Street), one of Trabzon's most iconic artisan quarters. Here, skilled craftsmen continue the centuries-old tradition of copperworking, creating everything from decorative items to everyday household goods.
