What you can expect

This national park is renowned for its variety of ecosystems, including dry forests, mangroves, and cloud forests. During your visit, you can explore the rich flora and fauna of the park, home to endemic and endangered species. The trails will lead you through lush landscapes, and you'll have the opportunity to spot exotic birds and other wildlife. Additionally, you'll learn about the ongoing conservation efforts to protect this natural treasure. This experience in Cerros de Amotape National Park will provide you with a deep connection to nature and a renewed appreciation for Peru's biological diversity.

At 8:00 a.m. we will meet to leave for the Cerros de Amotape National Park, the best-preserved equatorial dry forest in the entire region.

• We will travel 35 kilometres by road from Tumbes and reach the Angostura ravine, the access point to the national park. From there, the bus will take us to the Alambique ravine, where we will undertake a simple 30-minute hiking route following the course of the stream. Archaeological material rescued from studies of northern cultures, before the Incas, is exhibited here

• During the walk we will have the opportunity to appreciate the biodiversity of the Amotape Hills, where mammals, birds, insects and even reptiles such as snakes and iguanas live. Also, did you know that some of the trees in the park reach 30 metres in height?

• Then, we will go up to a viewpoint within the park from which it is possible to see Tumbes and the border between Peru and Ecuador.

• You will see that the walk will have been worth it when we reach the end of the trail, where the Huarapal ravine awaits us. In this waterfall, you will have time to rest and bathe in its natural pool. Perfect for cooling off after your hike!

• After enjoying this enclave, we will go to the town of Cabuyal to have lunch that includes a starter, main course and a drink.

• Finally, we will leave the Cerros de Amotape to return to Tumbes.
